Boulder Senior Services

Did you know that Boulder has an extensive Senior Services program? Recently, we contacted them for information about home health care services, social programs and other services offered by the city and county.  We were provided with a wealth of information.  Below are some links you or a loved one may find of use for services ranging from in-home care to social opportunities:

A number to keep handy is The Aging and Disability Resources for Colorado (ADRC) helpline: 303-441-1617.

You may also visit their website at BoulderCountyHelp.org.  This site is a directory for local services available for older people and their caregivers. You can find costs and contact information here.  Click on “Seniors and People with Disabilities” and “Service Directory” to find contact information for services available and costs.  This link also lists in-home non-medical care.  You can find more information by clicking on “In-Home Assistance and Home Health Care”.

For social opportunities, local senior centers offer exercise classes, outings and lunches. Boulder Senior Services offers a catalog with loads of information:  Senior Magazine Fall 2016

Don’t forget about Meals on Wheels!  For those who could use a nice warm meal and good company, Boulder’s Café Classico at the West Senior Center serves lunch on weekdays and dinner on Tuesday evenings.  Call 303-441-3148 for more information and for reservations.  For delivery at home, call Meals on Wheels at 303-441-3908. Please see page 9 of the above catalog.

The Circle of Care program offers free tickets and transportation for seniors to local cultural events.  www.circleofcareproject.org or call 303-449-8884.

Boulder also offers a Respite and Companion Volunteer Program, which matches volunteers with seniors. For more information about this program, call 303-441-1543 or send an e-mail to infoRespite@bouldercounty.org.

Traffic around Boulder can be tricky for many of us to maneuver. For those who are older or have a disability, it can be particularly intimidating!  You’ve probably seen Via Mobility vans driving around town and in your neighborhoods.  Via Mobility is a transportation service for older people and people with disabilities.  You can call 303-447-2848 to learn more.

These are just a few of the programs that Boulder offers for seniors. If you live outside of the Boulder area, check with your local community for similar opportunities and services.
