As Planning Manager at Harbor, Jennifer is responsible for overseeing the planning department, preparing financial plans, ensuring on time delivery and reviewing efficiencies.
Jennifer is also an analyst and member of the investment committee and is involved in investment analysis, portfolio management, securities trading, client service and working with prospective and new clients.
Jennifer graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Applied Physiology. She then went on to work at a local Ameriprise Financial office for 9 years as Operations Manager and Financial Planning Coordinator. In August 2015, Jennifer joined Harbor. She holds the Certified Financial Planner certification and is a member of the Boulder County Estate Planning Council.
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys traveling, hiking and spending time with her husband and son.
Karen is the Vice President of Compliance at Harbor. Like everyone at Harbor, Karen has several key roles. As a Wealth Manager, she prepares financial plans and advises clients on various wealth management topics. She is also a member of the Investment Committee and is involved in investment analysis, securities trading and portfolio management. Her compliance responsibilities include registering company information with the SEC and helping Harbor stay on top of the latest issues impacting the advisory world.
Karen joined Harbor in 2003. She began her career as a portfolio accountant at a prominent mutual fund company in Kansas City. After moving to Colorado, she worked with an institutional investment advisor as its Chief Financial Officer. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with an emphasis in accounting from Kansas State University. She holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification.
Outside of work, Karen enjoys gardening, cooking and traveling. She and her husband like to spend time with friends and family.
Elyse is the founding Principal of Harbor Wealth Management. Long before it was fashionable or the preferred form of advisory business, Elyse created advisory services to center around the client by bringing together other professional disciplines for a more effective, coordinated approach to problem solving. All of a client's needs, family, business and personal, are considered in developing the highly personal advisory for which the firm is well known. Her role includes client relationship management, strategic planning, and investment direction and selection for the firm. Elyse’s 30+ years experience helps her integrate world events and individual goals and needs into investment and planning advisory with exceptional results.
Elyse studied Political Science and Economics at the University of Colorado earning a BA in Political Science. She entered the financial planning field shortly after graduation and subsequently earned her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. Elyse was Vice President and Director of Operations with a large financial planning firm and also worked in investment banking and corporate accounting prior to forming Harbor Wealth Management in 1988.
Elyse enjoys an active outdoor Colorado lifestyle year round as well as photography, travel, her lab puppy Harley and cats MC and Max. Community involvement is also important to Elyse. She is the past Chair of the Board of Directors for the Humane Society of Boulder Valley and is a board member for the Burridge Center for Finance at the University of Colorado Boulder. She also enjoys spending time with her husband Barrett, her children and friends.
Denise joined Harbor in March 2018. She is responsible for overall office management and organization, scheduling, some bookkeeping, and special projects. Prior to joining Harbor, she spent most of her career as a senior executive with IBM and Geodis in Supply Chain and Logistics Operations, managing group operations across North and South America.
Denise graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with Bachelor’s degrees in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.
Originally from Pittsburgh, and having moved too many times in the past 15 years for work, Denise and her husband, David, were happy to come back to sunny Boulder. Outside of work, Denise enjoys cooking, walking, traveling, and playing with her dog, Callie.
As Chief Investment Officer, Megan oversees investment selection, monitoring and ongoing portfolio maintenance. She is the chair of the Investment Committee as well as a member of the marketing and public relations team. Megan is a Wealth Manager at Harbor where her duties include preparation of financial plans, managing investment portfolios as well as advising clients on their various planning needs. Additionally she assists with general oversight of daily operations and efficiencies within the firm’s day to day operations.
Megan joined Harbor in 2012. After graduating from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor degree in Finance, Megan worked as a stock broker at Charles Schwab for two years before joining Harbor. She holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst accreditation.
Megan founded and is currently leading a young professional leadership team, Society 1902. The group’s goal is to engage younger members of the community to fundraise and raise awareness about the wonderful work of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Outside of work she enjoys skiing, photography, traveling and volunteering as well as spending time with her husband Brett, friends and family. Much of her and Brett’s time is spent tiring out their energetic black lab, Tank.
As a Client Service Manager at Harbor, Denise provides overall client service, account maintenance, financial planning updates and client communications. She is also responsible for Harbor’s website, marketing and public relations efforts and works with prospective and new clients. Denise joined the firm in 2004 and brings over 13 years of mortgage banking experience. Prior to Harbor she worked for First Nationwide Mortgage where she was responsible for acquiring mortgage servicing rights for the company. Her attention to detail combined with her background in finance and lending adds a unique strength to the firm.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance from Cameron University.
Denise enjoys Boulder life, fine tuning her backyard gardening skills and checking out the newest breweries in the area. She loves hiking and is planning the next 14’er to tackle in 2019. So far she and her husband Chris have climbed 10 of the 53 Colorado 14’ers. She also has a weakness for fine Mexican cuisine and is always on the lookout for the perfect chile relleno.
Carolyn joined the firm in 2001 as the part-time office manager/administrative coordinator but now spends her time on client services as well as the financial planning and reporting process. This includes gathering information from clients for their annual planning updates and creating the planning schedules. Before Harbor Carolyn was the company administrator for the Boulder Ballet often helping with the costuming in her spare time and also had a small business producing wearable art and quilts.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Relations and Child Development from Oklahoma State University. In 2007 she completed the necessary work to earn the Financial Paraplanner designation from the College for Financial Planning and in 2014 completed the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation.
Outside of work she still sews, takes dance and yoga classes, enjoys reading and sings in the choir at her church. She also enjoys spending time with her husband Steve, three daughters, two sons-in-law and a growing assortment of grandchildren.
Emily joined Harbor in April 2019 as a Client Service Manager. In this role Emily provides overall client service, account maintenance, financial planning updates and client communications. She currently holds the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor and is in pursuit of her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation to be completed by June 2020.
Prior to Harbor Emily worked on the brokerage side of the business as an investment advisor at Raymond James for two years. She holds a Bachelor degree in Business with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Colorado Boulder. She is a board member of Ellevate Boulder; a global professional women’s network, made up of women who are committed to elevating each other through education, inspiration, and opportunity. She is also an active member of the Boulder Rotary Club participating on many different committees and events within the club.
Outside of work Emily enjoys seeing live music at Red Rocks, acro-yoga, running, golf and home improvements. She loves spending time with her family including her husband Brice and their Beagle Deza.
