Biking in New Orleans

Bike TourAs the parents of grown children my husband and I prefer to have them live close by if possible.  If not possible, then we prefer to have them live somewhere that we like to visit.  On a recent trip to the New Orleans area to visit a daughter, son-in-law and recently acquired grand-puppies we signed up for a culinary bike tour through the Marigny, Bywater and French quarter neighborhoods.  The tour included a brief history lesson of food in New Orleans (Creole, African, Cajun, everything else) but basically we spent the entire afternoon eating with occasional short jaunts on cruiser bicycles in between restaurants, most likely consuming considerably more calories than we burned.

Our last stop on this somewhat hot, muggy spring afternoon was a specialty popsicle shop in the French quarter, the perfect ending.  We’re wondering if we have the nerve to sign up for the History of Drinking in New Orleans bike tour on our next visit.
