Staff Spotlight Interview with Carolyn Rice

As part of our new blog series, we’re doing Staff Spotlights! In this fun interview, we talked with Carolyn Rice who’s been with Harbor since 2001.

 

What did you want to be growing up?

A ballerina

What motivates you to wake up and go to work? 

In the wintertime, mostly my alarm clock and the promise of a good cup of tea.

What would you do (career-wise) if you were not in this current job? 

Probably retire and volunteer?

What is the weirdest job you’ve ever had? 

Handing out samples at Hickory Farms and trying not to eat the samples.

What do you do in your spare time? 

Read, sew, sing in the choir, hang out with the family, travel or plan to travel, read . . .

If you were stranded on a deserted island and could bring one thing, what would it be? 

A library?  But a grocery store would probably be more practical.

Where is your favorite place in the world? 

My front porch in the summertime.

What is your favorite movie that you could watch a million times and never gets old? 

All of the Muppet movies.  We also have a collection of Christmas movies we watch every year – It’s a Wonderful Life, Love Actually, Miracle on 34th Street, and, of course, Muppet Christmas Carol.

What was the last TV Series you binged? 

The Mentalist

What is the best book you’ve read? 

Too many to pick but the ones I own and go back to are written by Dorothy Sayers, Louise Penny, C.S. Lewis, and Terry Pratchett.

What is the most used app on your phone? 

A toss-up between Kindle and Spotify.
